Overview:

The focus of the Influenza Staffing Plan project was to create a model to provide medical professionals in the United States on a temporary basis to handle increased patient load due to seasonal influenza. The staff was to be provided where the need was greatest, and at as close to 100% utilization as possible without hiring and training additional staff. No agency name was provided; the agency is hypothetical.

I was tasked with cleaning and analyzing the datasets provided using Excel to derive insights to develop a staff allocation model.

The final deliverables for this project were defined as creation of several dashboards and a story board in Tableau, and a video presentation for management and client facilities. I used Tableau Public, which does not allow me to embed the storyboard here. I included the video (link above) which shows the storyboard and other visuals.

Z score analysis was conducted to determine if bias is present. Regression and correlation testing were conducted to determine the suitability of the proposed variable to mitigate the bias and the confidence level in the result.

The initial review and cleaning of the datasets was conducted in Excel. Statistical analyses were performed on the data to determine a calculated variable to mitigate the bias of large data centers.

Averages were derived to determine how to apply the variable to the dataset to best determine need.

Deaths per 1000 population in the age group 65 years and older was selected.
